Ashtead Engineering completed a second phase of load testing for Raphael’s Cartoons at the V&A. The whole Room is being re-vamped in preparation to commemorate Raphael as 2020 will be the 500th anniversary since he died.
The load testing has been completed to enable the frames to be removed so that the glass can be cleaned, and the paintings digitalised. The glass panes are some of the largest ever made (40 years ago), the V&A tried to find replacements, but no manufacturer can make the glass this large now!
The BBC are filming a documentary focusing on the works happening in the gallery which we may feature in, so keep your eyes peeled!
