At AEC, our speciality is in-situ load testing that evaluates the performance of existing products and structures without damaging them.
We can perform our load testing in various load configurations, as well as work with you to design suitable tests for your products and structures.
The types of products and structures we’ve load tested in the past include picture hanging systems at art galleries and museums and lighting systems at theatres.

Experts at performing load tests in spaces featuring delicate items.
Load testing you can completely trust
We can carry out our non-destructive load testing in all types of environments, including the most delicate of spaces. This is highlighted by our work in the world-famous V&A Museum located in London.
There, working in close proximity to priceless paintings, we performed successful load tests on the brackets used to lift the frame and glass of The Raphael Cartoons, which date back to the early 1500s.

Our load testing service explained
Step 1 – Assessment
Our team of technicians will visit your space to assess how best to carry out load testing on the item that needs to be tested. Factors we consider include relevant legislation, minimising disruption to your space and safeguarding items in close proximity.
During this assessment stage the maximum load will be agreed by all parties.
Step 2 – Non-destructive load testing
In order to protect the surroundings, we apply weights incrementally up to a pre-agreed maximum. At each stage we accurately measure deflection and we see any irregularities we stop the test, so no damage is caused.
Step 3 – Results and explanation
We will present the results of our load testing to you and explain what we believe the following steps should be. This could be to replace or modify your item or leave it in place.
Step 4 – Replacement or modification
If it is necessary to replace your item, we can design and manufacture a bespoke replacement for you.
If your item cannot be replaced, maybe because of conservation laws, we will work with you to develop a satisfactory solution. This may involve us modifying your item so it meets load testing requirements and conforms to any relevant legislation.
Step 5 – Documentation
We can provide you with load testing certificates and comprehensive reports following the replacement or modification of your item.
